Definition
- Human resources is a fundamental part of the world of work because it deals with one of the most important components of workplaces: people. Over time, the function of human resources in U.S. companies has shifted in response to federal employment law and interpretation of the law by courts, but a primary responsibility of human resources is the protection of people's rights at work.
