Definition
- Institutionalization refers to the process by which ways of meeting goals or needs become so well established that they are taken for granted. Institutionalization can occur in almost any social grouping, large or small, and is studied in the contexts of formal organizations (businesses, government agencies, and so forth) and entire societies.
