- Microintestinal flora is the group of microorganisms that live in the digestive tract of the human body. This microbiota has a mutualistic and symbiotic relationship with the gut and is involved in many functions such as fermenting unused energy substrates, preventing harmful pathogen growth, and vitamin and hormone production.
