Definition
- Legal systems in the early 21st century can only be understood in the context of globalization. Globalization fundamentally affects local and national legal systems through three processes: economic and political globalization and resulting synchronic challenges to nation-states across the globe; the emergence of global-level cognitive and normative scripts and their effects at the level of nation-states; and the establishment of intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations at the global level.
