Definition
- The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program awards federal income tax credits to investors in selected newly built or rehabilitated rental housing that will be rented to low- or moderate-income households. The LIHTC program is now the nation's second largest rental assistance program, and the largest among the programs designed to produce affordable rental housing for low-income households.
