Concept information
Preferred term
markets and economies
Definition
- Economic life and work develop in different institutional settings; that is, in history and space, many different ways exist to organize both the economy and the market. In order to try to find order in this empirical variety, it can be useful to treat the two terms economy and market separately. [Source: Sociology of Work: An Encyclopedia; Markets and Economies]
