Definition
- Metabolic syndrome is diagnosed by a combination of 3 or more of the following factors: visceral obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemias (especially elevated triacylglycerols and low high-density lipoprotein [HDL] cholesterol), and altered glucose/insulin metabolism.
