Concept information
Preferred term
monitoring of sex offenders
Definition
- Society considers sexual crimes, especially those committed against children, as among the most reprehensible. Given the recidivism of many sexual offenders, there is increased pressure for monitoring sexual offenders who are on probation and even those who have served their terms to see that they avoid areas (some of which are forbidden to them) near schools or in neighborhoods with lots of children.
