Definition
- Online education involves instruction through electronic communications media to persons engaged in learning in a place or time different from that of the instructor or other students and in which online interaction accounts for at least 50 percent of the graded part of the course. Online instruction, distance learning via the Internet, e-learning, Web-based learning, virtual learning, and e-studies are the terms usually used, interchangeably, in programs and research studies to describe essentially the same type of instruction.
