- Ophthalmology is the branch of medical science dealing with the anatomy, function, pathology, and treatment of the eye. It encompasses many subspecialties including: cornea and external disease, glaucoma, vitreoretinal diseases, oculoplastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, and ophthalmic pathology.
