- An important aspect in improving the health of people with disabilities is to encourage higher levels of physical activity. Not only is physical activity important from the standpoint of promoting a higher quality of life by reducing secondary conditions and maintaining functional independence, but it is also essential in terms of reducing health care expenditures.
