presidential approval ratings
Definition
- ONE OF THE most important determinants of who wins a presidential election is citizens' evaluation of the job the president is doing. Presidential approval ratings not only have a significant effect on the electoral prospects of incumbent presidents, but have also been shown to affect the fortunes of successor candidates in open seat presidential elections.
