Definition
- Probation officers are responsible for a variety of important offender supervision and case management functions, including visiting and interviewing clients, making referrals, maintaining rapport with court personnel and social service agencies, monitoring probationers' progress, enforcing terms of probation, and writing reports. There are several models of probation administration that place varying levels of emphasis on these important functions.
