recovery time objective
Definition
- To paraphrase the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) and the Disaster Recovery Institute, a recovery time objective (RTO) is defined as the duration of time within which critical business systems/processes must be restored and recovered after a major interruption. An RTO is initially established during the business impact analysis (BIA) phase of business continuity management (BCM) program development.
