- MEDITATION IS THE practice of freeing the mind from conscious thought and becoming aware only of the individual within the universe. It is believed by practitioners that meditation enables the individual to reach elevated states of consciousness associated with spiritual understanding that is superior to that of people who are unable to achieve these states.
