residential hotels
Definition
- Residential hotels, or single-room occupancy hotels (hereafter SROs), are a vital but unappreciated housing resource. Poor-quality SROs are commonly described as “flophouses” whose rooms resemble “cages” or “cribs.” For over a century, SROs have housed low-income and working-class single adults living in major urban centers.
