Preferred term
right to die
Definition
- Supreme Court rulings that deal with the rights of persons to end their own lives. Since about the 1970s, advances in medicine have allowed the “human body [to be kept] alive for longer than any reasonable person would want to inhabit it,” as Justice Antonin Scalia put it.
