Definition
- The range of services provide by organizations, private and public, to enhance life, ranging from education and public health to the delivery of meals to the elderly and disabled. In the past the state played a large role in the delivery of these services, but under the influence of neoliberal policies' attempts to shed them either on to the community or into the private-for-profit sector (care in the community; citizenship; corporatization; welfare services; welfare state).
