Definition
- With passage of the Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 (20 USC 1092[f]; now known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act), Congress set federal policy concerning how postsecondary institutions should respond to campus crime and security. The Clery Act requires that all postsecondary institutions eligible to receive federal financial aid prepare and make publicly available each year a security report containing information such as crime statistics for the campus, institutional policies for addressing on-campus sexual assaults, a description of the jurisdiction and authority of the campus police/ security department, and other information.
