Definition
- Stop and identify statutes are state laws that require individuals to disclose their names to police officers during a valid police stop. In Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada (2004), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Nevada's stop and identify statute did not violate the Fourth Amendment.
