symbolic play
Definition
- Symbolic play is play that involves mentally transforming people, objects, or events, or acting as if something were true. Consider a child who pretends to “feed the baby” by putting a block to the lips of a doll; the doll is treated as though it were alive and the block as though it were a bottle of milk.
