teacher certification by states
Definition
- In the United States, each state has the authority and responsibility for issuing and upgrading teacher licenses at the elementary and secondary levels and for special student populations. Because this function is decentralized, licensure varies from state to state and changes occur frequently. [Source: Encyclopedia of Bilingual Education; Teacher Certification by States]
