Definition
- Survivors of crime may experience depression, anxiety, sleep and eating disorders, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, self-blame and posttraumatic stress disorder. To address their needs, crime victims assistance programs, rape crisis centers, and battered women's shelters have been in existence since the 1970s.
