- The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) is sponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The program brings together the intellectual and structural potentialities related to climate and climate change of more than 185 countries.
