Carl Friedrich Gauss
Definition
- Gauss, who was born April 30, 1777, in Brunswick, Germany, the child of a poor family, was a prodigy who became famous for his advances in many branches of science, but he was, above all else, a mathematician. Mathematics came naturally to Gauss, who is said to have corrected his father's wage calculations when he was aged three.
