  • After the American Revolution, when the thirteen colonies revolted against the oppression of English rule, the founding fathers wrote the Constitution in an effort to create a more fair and equitable form of government than the monarchies then prevalent in Europe. However, when the founding fathers wrote the Constitution, there was not unanimous agreement among the states as to whether it should be ratified.
