Definition
- Supreme Court case that upheld President Franklin D. Roosevelt's (1933–1945) decision to detain Japanese Americans in internment camps during World War II (1939–1945). Forty years later, Congress would issue a formal apology to the detainees and their families for their treatment during the war. [Source: Student's Guide to the Supreme Court; Korematsu v.
