  • The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which are located within the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The Mission of the NHLBI is to provide leadership for diseases of the heart, blood, lungs, blood resources and sleep disorders, and since 1997 for the NIH Women's Health Initiative.
