  • For the health care industry, several organizations and federal agencies are responsible for the promulgation and review of professional standards. These include the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), among others.
