  • The Puerto Rican Armed Forces of National Liberation—in Spanish, Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional (FALN)—was a clandestine political organization and movement that emerged in Chicago and Spanish Harlem, well known as El Barrio, in New York City. The FALN demanded independence for the island and the liberation of Puerto Rican political prisoners Oscar Collazo-López, Lolita Lebrón, Rafael Cancel-Miranda, Andres Figueroa-Cordero, and Irving Flores-Rodríguez.
