  • Coding is the process by which verbal data are converted into variables and categories of variables using numbers, so that the data can be entered into computers for analysis. DATA for social science research are collected using SELF-ADMINISTERED QUESTIONNAIRES and questionnaires administered through telephone or face-to-face interviews, through observation, and from records, documents, movies, pictures, or tapes.
