  • The frontal cortex occupies about 35% of the cerebral cortex in humans and great apes (Semendeferi, Lu, Schenker, & Damasio, 2002). It contains the primary motor cortex, premotor cortex (dorsal and ventral premotor cortex on the lateral convexity; supplementary motor area [SMA] and the cingulate motor areas [CMA] on the medial convexity), and prefrontal cortex.
