Definition
- The application of principles of physics to the study of the Earth. Within earth science, geophysics involves studies of the Earth’s gravity, magnetism (geomagnetism), behaviour with respect to elastic waves (seismology), heat flow and radioactivity to investigate the structure, physical and environmental condition and geological evolution of the Earth.
