  • This program of research was initiated in rural Iowa in 1989 and has continued since that time for almost 20 years. The study began as an investigation of a cohort of more than 500 early adolescents in two-parent (the Iowa Youth and Families Project) and single-parent (the Iowa Single Parent Project) families.
