Definition
- Drivers of automobiles, and the passengers accompanying them, are subject to traffic stops by law enforcement officials who may conduct subsequent searches of the automobile and its passengers. State and federal courts have had to answer questions of where and when an individual's right to privacy and protection from searches is most and least protected.
