  • Tests come in many forms, and in a real sense, the act of completing any test items, regardless of their format, constitutes a performance of some type. However, the term performance-based assessment (also, performance assessment or sometimes authentic assessment) has come to possess a specific meaning in the context of measuring cognitive abilities.
