- The rate of change throughout the healthcare industry has had profound effects on the composition of the physician workforce. Yet while many health services researchers study issues involving the physician, including healthcare insurance and managed care, quality of care and outcomes, and malpractice and tort reform, direct evidence of changes in the physician workforce is relatively scant.
