research design

Definition

  • Research design is the model used by the researcher to discharge ‘the burden of proof’ – the logical organisation that allows him or her to feel that whatever they have done in their research allows them to reach valid conclusions. Research design is not the step-by-step procedures one goes through in carrying out a piece of research (such as the tasks that have to be carried out to design and implement a social survey or an observation study).
