Holmes v. Danner

Definition

  • Holmes v. Danner (1961) was an early lawsuit seeking to gain admission to the University of Georgia for African American students. Although perhaps not as well-known today as cases in Alabama and Mississippi, the Georgia case featured two brave young students and a farsighted district court judge who ruled that the university was unconstitutionally barring African American students.
