Preferred term
graphic novels
Definition
- Although the scope of the term is frequently contested, in the broadest sense graphic novel is used to define sequential art that is published in bound volumes. Specifically, the self-contained illustrated narratives found in graphic novels are usually differentiated from those found in the majority of comics, which are published in a serial format as part of a continuing story.
