  • The Congress of African Peoples (CAP) was first convened in Atlanta, Georgia, in September of 1970. Organized primarily by CAP cochairs Hayward Henry and Amiri Baraka, its stated objective was to formulate a methodology that would unite the various theoretical persuasions within the pan-Africanist movement.
