  • Organization within the United Nations, founded in 1945, to raise nutrition levels, improve the productivity of agriculture, improve conditions for rural populations, and promote economic prosperity by contributing to the growth of the world economy. Since its establishment, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has become one of the largest UN agencies, with 180 member countries.
