  • Liechtenstein is a landlocked principality in central Europe, covering a land area of around 61 square miles (160 square kilometers) with a population of 36,281 (2011 estimate), which has slightly declined since the 2000 census reported the population at 37,132. The country has the second-highest gross domestic product (GDP) per person in the world (after Qatar) when adjusted for purchasing power parity, according to the Central Intelligence Agency, and one of the lowest unemployment rates at around 1.5 percent.
