Mozambique

Definition

  • Mozambican social networks have strongly and divisively developed along political lines and have played a major role in the country's violent history. During the 20th century, Mozambicans gathered in organizations that demanded independence from Portugal, but once they obtained it, the divisive logic of the Cold War took hold of the country whose social unity was shattered by a 12-year civil war.
