- The National Public Safety Information Bureau began in 1964 as a source for public safety information. It works closely with law enforcement agencies and fire and emergency departments to provide the public with names of chief officers, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses for the more than 70,000 contacts it maintains in its database.
