  • The Sierra Club is one of the oldest and largest environmental advocacy organizations in the United States. It was founded in 1892 by a small group of outdoor enthusiasts in San Francisco concerned about protecting California's Sierra Nevada mountain range and particularly the famous Yosemite Valley.
