  • Just six years after the enactment of the provision, the U.S. Supreme Court was called on to interpret the nondiscrimination guarantee provision of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in Southeastern Community College v. Davis (1979). Section 504 prohibits recipients of federal financial assistance from discriminating on the basis of disability in any of their programs.
