community action

Definition

  • Community action, which can be defined as collective social and political activities by people on behalf of their communities (whether geographical or more conceptual, as in, for instance, the gay community or the black community), is of great political and practical interest. Traditional analyses of why people become involved in community action typically start on the individual level.
