Definition
- The termcompression of morbidity was introduced as a hypothesis by James F. Fries in 1980. He hypothesized that, with improved lifestyles and health care, the age of onset of morbidity could be put off longer than the age at death, resulting in a decrease in the length of time spent with morbidity.
