  • Since the first large-scale disaster relief mission following the Lisbon earthquake of 1755, communities have been providing organized disaster relief to those in need. Disaster relief is often considered to be the rapid provision of goods and services following the onset of a disaster in order to meet basic needs and minimize suffering caused by a hazard.
